"My fault," Jeremiah immediately says, quietly, and earnestly, continuing, "All I was talking about was serious emergencies when I was out of options and needed my parents to risk coming. I couldn't possibly be embarrassed by any relationship we might or might not be able to have. And I'd want it to be kind of serious. I don't know much about how to do not-serious."
